Indian Call Center Burnout

A Look inside Indian Call Centers

Ever since the early 2000s there has been a spick with  the U.S and other countries businesses are outsourcing to India call center and the reason I believe some companies do this is a way to save money. But there are a whole lot of down sides of working in a call center. In recent years Indians have token almost 90% of call centers due to low cost of labor, convenient time zone, and with the majority of the population being able to speak English. But often with long hours, being over worked, and under paid. It takes a big toll mentally.

“There’s is a lot of pressures on people, the jobs are very stressful and not very creative.” said Karuna Baskar, a director of 1to1help.net, and with the language barrier, unbarring clients. It’s really a sad reality when it comes to being employed in India.

I really believe that if you work long hours you should get paid fairly as well as having more flexibility and creativity in the work space enable to avoid burning out your employees enabling a stressful work environment, making quitting a everyday thing they say that the extreme demands are both physically and mentally draining and proving to be to much for workers.

The shift which go through the night to coincide with the American business days took a heavy toll and with low prospects of advancement in the job. Indian call centers and other outsourcing companies now employ more due to the growing need, mainly young Indian college graduates, who earn relatively high salaries most of the time. But the fast-paced, repetitive work is creating a growing number of stresses, in the work environment.

“Call centers aren’t going away.” Baskar said. “So we have to gear up for them. Otherwise we’ll have a nation of ill people.”
